(Traore 89')
Burkina Faso has finished in third place at the 2017 African Cup of Nations, beating Ghana in Saturday's third-place match in Port-Gentil, Gabon.
Alain Traore scored the winning goal just before full time to give Burkina Faso the victory. The 28-year-old midfielder, who plays his club football at Turkish club Kayserispor, curled a free kick over Ghana's wall for the game's only goal. Jonathan Mensah and Daniel Amartey could not send the game to extra time after missing chances in second half stoppage time.
Burkina Faso only had one loss in the tournament, facilitating the elimination of hosts Gabon before losing to Egypt on penalty kicks in the semifinal. The third place finish is the second best showing they've ever had in the continental competition - they finished as runners-up in South Africa in 2013.
Egypt and Cameroon face off on Sunday in the Africa Cup of Nations final, which will take place in the Stade d'Angondjé in northwest Gabon.
