Just when we thought biofuels were going to save the world, producers and consumers are waking up to the fact that biofuel production brings its own set of problems. Bad harvests have led to surging prices for grain, and that's a headache for the producers of bioethanol, for example, who have seen their costs explode. One company, Verbio, in Schwedt in eastern Germany, has reacted by temporarily stopping production of ethanol.
