German luxury carmaker BMW is in talks to buy the Swiss Formula One racing stable, Sauber-Petronas, the business daily Handelsblatt reported Tuesday, quoting F1 sources. BMW is already negotiating to supply engines to Sauber-Petronas. But a company spokesman declined to comment whether the carmaker was also considering buying the Swiss team, the newspaper said. So far, BMW has cooperated exclusively with Williams in F1 racing. The acquisition of Sauber-Petronas would cost BMW at least 150 million euros ($187 million), Handelsblatt added.
