Despite all the attacking talent at Bayern Munich's disposal, it took an own goal from Stuttgart central-defender Georg Niedermeier to break the deadlock in the first half. Following a darting dribble and driven cross from Franck Ribery, the defender managed to knock the ball into his own net in an attempt to clear the danger.

Stuttgart's misery would only grow in the second half, when David Alaba used some exquisite close control to compose himself and then volley the ball past Przemyslaw Tyton at his front post just seven minutes after the break. Daniel Didavi would pull a goal back for the hosts with a comical shot past Manuel Neuer after falling to the ground in the Bayern box. But ultimately it was another clinical, if not spectacular three points won for Bayern with a late long-range goal from Douglas Costa to add to Stuttgart's despair.

Hamburg 1-2 Darmstadt

Hamburg lost their seventh home game of the season against a driven Darmstadt side, determined not to get dragged into an ever-growing relegation battle at the bottom of the Bundesliga table. Aytac Sulu opened the scoring late in the first half with a header off the front post of Rene Adler's goal, before Sandro Wagner laid the ball off for Jerome Gondorf to double the visitors' lead in the second half through an efficient counter attack. Lewis Holtby would pull back a last-minute consolation goal for Hamburg but on the day all three points belonged to the promoted side.

Ingolstadt 1–0 Gladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach may come to rue a lackadaisical performance in Ingolstadt this weekend, as the Foals traveled to the recently promoted side and ultimately succumbed to a tepid 1-0 defeat that could see them lose their top-four place. In an evenly-matched clash it was a late goal from Moritz Hartmann - his ninth of the campaign - just minutes from full-time that claimed a vital three points for Ralph Hasenhüttl's side. A potential disaster for Gladbach but a win that could prove vital to Ingolstadt's hopes of staying in the division come May.

Werder Bremen 1–2 Augsburg

Werder Bremen finished matchday 29 in the bottom three of the Bundesliga after a heartbreaking comeback from Augsburg at the Weserstadion on Saturday afternoon. The home side took a strong lead just before half-time when Florian Grillitsch latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the Augsburg box and fired home a driven shot.

Yet any hopes of turning round their season were short-lived for Werder, when Alfred Finnbogason got in front of his marker and headed home a cross just eight minutes into the second half. Then, when both sides looked content with a point, defender Hong Jeong-ho wrestled his way to the back post to knock in a free-kick. Augsburg with their first win in seven league games while Werder are left ruing in the bottom three.
