Bundesliga Matchday 13 in pictures
Hamburg have a halftime lead over struggling Hoffenheim in Sunday's first Bundesliga clash. On Saturday, Bayer Leverkusen continued their quiet improvement of late, while Naby Keita made Leipzig the day's big winners.
Capital punishment
Cologne goalkeeper Timo Horn guesses the wrong way as Hertha Berlin captain Vedad Ibisevic strokes home his penalty. This was the second of Ibisevic's two goals on a night when the Bundesliga's basement club struggled to get to grips with the Bosnian's movement in the box.
Sharp Arp
Hamburg's Jann-Fiete Arp is attracting plenty of attention across Europe for his performances for Hamburg this season. And he was involved in Hamburg's opener against Hoffenheim, pressuring Kevin Akpoguma into an own goal. Hamburg went into the game in 16th place and with one win in their previous 10 Bundesliga games.
And so it begins...
Guido Burgstaller blows the visiting fans a kiss after the goal that set in motion the scarcely-believable four-goal comeback that earned Schalke an unlikely point against rivals Borussia Dortmund. Burgstaller's goal sparked a fightback which ended with Naldo's injury time header that made it 4-4 and kept the pressure on Dortmund coach Peter Bosz.
All good things come to an end
Jupp Heynckes' return to the Bayern Munich hotseat had, until Saturday, been an unqualified success. But the veteran coach had an unhappy return to his hometown as Bayern were defeated for the first time since Carlo Ancelotti lost in Paris thanks to two quickfire Gladbach goals before the break.
They'll miss him when he's gone
Naby Keita will move to Liverpool after this season and the fans in Leipzig had better enjoy him while they can. After scoring against Monaco in the week, the all-action midfielder scored the winner in RB Leipzig's win over Werder Bremen with another smart finish. With Dortmund, Schalke and Bayern all failing to pick up three points, Leipzig were the big winners at the top of the table.
Goal hunter Gregoritsch
His signing from Hamburg may have flown under the rader but at just over €5 million, Michael Gregoritsch must be one of the bargains of the season to date. The Austrian striker combined well with Alfred Finnbogason to notch his sixth league goal of the season before his Icelandic partner sealed a comeback win for Augsburg.
Vital Volland
Bayer Leverkusen forward Kevin Volland demonstrated his worth to the club with another goal — his third in his last three Bundesliga games — to settle an attritional game in Frankfurt. The win takes Leverkusen up to sixth and ensures they go eight Bundesliga games unbeaten. Next up? Borussia Dortmund.
Supersub does it from the start
He's carved out a reputation as the Bundesliga's bench specialist but Nils Petersen (left) proved he can find the net when he begins the game too. His second half strike helped Freiburg to a narrow win over Mainz that lifts them out of the relegation zone.
"Keep active! Keep moving!"
That's what VfB Stuttgart coach Hannes Wolf could be heard shouting to his players immediately after Takuma Asano (pictured) had given the Swabians the lead in Hannover. But it was the hosts who were the more active side in the second half, Niclas Füllkrüg equalizing from the penalty spot.
