Bundesliga Round 13 in Pictures
A look all the matches from the Bundesliga's Match Day 13.
Kiessling makes the difference for Leverkusen
He may get no respect from Germany coach Joachim Löw, but Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling is one of the most consistent performers in the Bundesliga. His eighth goal of the season was enough to secure the Pharmaceuticals 1-0 win over Hertha in Berlin, even though the hosts were the slightly better side.
Schalke and Frankfurt play roller-coaster draw
Schalke went up 2-0 early in this one, but the Royal Blues were perhaps a bit premature in celebrating victory. Hosts Frankfurt come back to score three, two courtesy of striker Joselu (right). Schalke were fortunate to scramble a late equalizer in a match that frustrated both sets of fans.
Altintop seals three points for Augsburg
Saturday was a special day for Halil Altintop. The forward tied the record for the Turkish player with the most appearances in the Bundesliga. And he celebrated that achievement but putting an early brace past a confused Hoffenheim defense. The 2-0 win establishes the Augsburg in the middle of the Bundesliga table.
Fernandes steps up for Freiburg
Football may be a team game, but sometimes one moment by one player makes all the difference. That man in Braunschweig on Saturday was Gelson Fernandes. The Freiburg midfielder scored the lone goal in this hard-nosed relegation dogfight.
Nuremberg still winless in thirteen matches
Nuremberg must be asking themselves what they need to do to finally pick up three points. At home against Wolfsburg on Saturday, the Club were again the slightly better side, but all they could manage was 1-all. The Franconians are drawing themselves toward the second division.
Götze drives stake through Dortmund's heart
Dortmund fans were none-too-enthused when wunderkind Mario Götze transferred to Bayern Munich this summer. And how much worse they must have felt when Götze broke the ice in Bayern's 3-0 win in Dortmund. For his part, the star midfielder refused to celebrate against his old team, even though the victory means that Bayern now have a huge advantage in the title race.
Raffael leads Foals over Stuttgart
Fourth-placed Mönchengladbach put a bit of distance between themselves and the rest of pack with a convincing 2-0 win in Stuttgart in the Friday evening match. The man of the match was Brazilian midfielder Raffael, who put the Foals on the road to victory with a first half goal.
Beister inspires hustling Hamburg
Hamburg have had a bit of trouble getting off the mark this season, but on Sunday, they were clearly the better side, downing fellow northern Germans Hannover 3-1. Maximilian Beister scored what would prove to be the game winner only 42 seconds after the start of the second half.
Okazaki smacks in a brace for Mainz
Two players were the focus of attention in Mainz's 3-2 away win in Bremen. Mainz striker Shinji Okazaki (right) pounced twice for the visitors, scoring what would eventually prove to be the game-winner. And Bremen keeper Sebatian Mielitz made a pair of mistakes that ultimately sent his team down to another defeat.
