Clean-up operations are under way on Madeira, after mudslides and flash floods kill more than forty people

Rescuers on the Portuguese island of Madiera say the number of people killed in flash floods and mudslides over the weekend is likely to rise. 42 people are confirmed dead but more bodies are expected to be found as emergency workers clear away the mud. The government is set to declare three days of mourning.
