This week marked the 65th anniversary of the Communist takeover of Czechoslovakia, ushering in four decades of totalitarian rule. The Communist regime of course collapsed in November 1989, but the present-day Communist Party is still strong and enjoying renewed political power in a number of regional assemblies.
