Dimitri Medvedev is coming into office very much in the shadow of his mentor Vladimir Putin. It's safe to say that if it hadn't been for Putin, Medvedev would not be in control of the Kemlin today. Indeed, some say that Putin will continue to pull the strings as prime minister, and might try to stage a comeback as president when Medvedev's term is over. So there's good reason to examine the division of powers between the two offices. Just how much authority will Dimitri Medvedev have?
