East Frisian Islands - Holidays in natural surroundings

The East Frisian islands are part of the Wadden Sea National Park, a unique habitat of tidal mudflats protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The islands offer many guided tours of the mudflats. If you visit, you have to leave your car on the mainland and explore the islands in a horse-drawn tram, on foot or by bicycle.
From Langeoog, you can walk in the shallow water and learn more about the area's flora and fauna. At the right time of year, you can watch flocks of migrating birds stopping in the Wadden Sea to rest and feed on their way to and from the Arctic.
From Langeoog we go to Spiekeroog, the most tranquil of the East Frisian islands. We take a cutter to the seal colonies and the horse-drawn tram through the salt meadows. There's art and culture as well: singing in the dunes!
