Ebola diagnosed in Scotland

The woman had returned home last night from Sierra Leone - via Casablanca and London Heathrow airport - and was admitted to Gartnavel Hospital (pictured) early on Monday morning after feeling unwell.

Authorities are looking into who the person might have come into contact with.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has sought to reassure the public, telling a press conference that the risk of transmission to other patients was low due to the early stage of illness.

The patient will be transfered to the high level isolation unit in the Royal Free Hospital in London, under UK and Scottish protocol.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Monday that the number of Ebola cases in West Africa has risen to over 20,000, with a death toll of more than 7,800. The three worst-affected countries are Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia.
