George Mitchell's first visit to Israel in his capacity as Washington's new middle east envoy

Israel's airforce carried out more attacks in the Gaza Strip early Thursday, including the bombing of what it says was a weapons-production facility. Israel says it was responding to two rocket attacks by fired by Palestinian militants into Israeli territory - the first since both Israel and Hamas declared separate ceasefires following Israel offensive in Gaza. The comes as President Obama's new middle east envoy George Mitchell is in the region, trying to secure a more durable Gaza ceasefire.
