NPD accidentally calls to deport Germans first
February 3, 2016A party election poster for Germany's far-right National Democratic Party has inadvertently called to "deport the Germans first." The placard was met with ridicule from critics on social media.
The self-proclaimed "homeland party" posted a copy of the placard on its Facebook page on Wednesday morning. "Systematically deport!" cried out the text next to an image of a passenger jet on the poster created by the far-right National Democratic Party (NPD). The punch line came with their standard slogan, however, which read: "Our nation first."
Facebook users were quick to highlight the blunder. "Deport your own people first? How stupid can you be?" one user asked. Another reiterated: "Exactly … deport yourselves first. Nobody wants you anyway."
"At last, you guys want to leave, but please far, far away … Saturn or somewhere would be my recommendation," another user quipped.
"Safe travels!" others wished.
Failing to appreciate the joke, the NPD had removed the poster from their Facebook page by Wednesday afternoon but not before responding to the sarcastic comments.
"It's our duty to prevent [Germans being deported]," the NPD wrote. "Go to your multicultural park and let yourselves get raped."
Wednesday's grammatical faux pas came ahead of state elections in the southwestern German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, which are scheduled for March 13.
The NPD, which is currently under surveillance by Germany's internal security services, is unlikely to reach the 5 percent threshold required to win representation in the state's parliament. In 2011 the extremist party garnered just 1.1 percent of the vote.
