Germany seeks to bolster ties with the booming economies of Latin America

German Vice-Chancellor Guido Westerwelle led his first cabinet meeting today - standing in for Angela Merkel, who's on vacation in Italy. High on the agenda at the meeting - Germany's ties with nations in Central and South America and the Caribbean. Westerwelle presented the government's new strategy to bolster relations with 33 countries, with the emphasis very much on economic ties.
