German gold
April 4, 2010In a one-two finish for the Red Bull team, German Sebastian Vettel won Sunday's Formula One Grand Prix in Malaysia, with teammate Mark Webber in second.
Webber started in pole position on the grid, but was passed by Vettel in the run-up to the first corner. The German then held onto that lead for the rest of the 56-lap race.
"I had a good start," said 22-year old Vettel after his sixth Formula One career win. "I was able to gain, gain, gain."
It was third time lucky for the German after mechanical failures robbed him of victory in the opening two races. The strong result for Red Bull boosts them to third in the constructors' championship. Ferrari currently lead and German team Mercedes are fourth.
Strong outing for Germany
Driving for Mercedes, Nico Rosberg gave the team their first podium place of the season, finishing third.
However Rosberg's Mercedes teammate and Formula One legend Michael Schumacher did not finish after a rear-wheel problem forced him out of the race.
Four Germans finished in the top ten, as Force India's Adrian Sutil held off a challenge from Britain's Lewis Hamilton to take fifth and Nico Hulkenberg for Williams took tenth.
Brazilian Felipe Massa currently leads the drivers' championship, with Vettel and Fernando Alonso only two points behind. Only nine points currently separate the top seven drivers.
