At least 150,000 people dead. 90 per cent of the capital, Port-au-Prince destroyed. The numbers are staggering. Words cannot convey the enormous suffering in Haiti. The international community has vowed to help. A major donors' conference is scheduled to be held in March where representatives of the United Nations, International Monetary Fund and the Inter-American Development Bank will attend to discuss Haiti's long-term rebuilding. And today, more than twenty countries are meeting in Montreal to discuss immediate aid. They want to push for reconstruction; to co-ordinate financial support; and to show solidarity for people who have literally lost everything.
