Is Finland’s Nuclear Boom Only Hot Air?

Against the background of a looming energy crisis, many countries are turning increasingly to nuclear power. Living Planet takes a look at the situation in Finland, where a new plant is currently being built.

In 2005, Finland became the first member of the European Union to start building a new nuclear reactor: Olkiluoto 3, which is planned to go on-line in 2011. Some have interpreted this as the renaissance of atomic power. Now, Finland is planning more new nuclear power plants. But is this another step towards reviving an almost abandoned technology, or a local solution?
