German flag carrier Lufthansa has signed a maintenance contract worth more than 73 million euros ($100 million) with Bahrain's Gulf Air, the head of the German airline's maintenance arm Lufthansa Technik said in a newspaper interview on Tuesday. Under the terms of the contract, Lufthansa Technik, the world's leading supplier of airline maintenance services, would provide aircraft components to Gulf Air over a period of five years, chief August Wilhelm Henningsen told the business daily Handelsblatt. Lufthansa Technik turned in a record performance in 2004, with operating profit rising to 206 million euros on more than three billion euros in revenues.
