President Barack Obama has defended his plans to shut down the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, saiyng the facility had damaged America's image abroad and undermined the war on terror. Speaking at the National Archives, Obama also raised the prospect of moving Guantanamo detainees to high security prisons in the US - THAT and confusion over how the suspects should be tried has the President facing massive opposition from within his own party.
