My other car is a bike
Young or old, Germans ride their bikes nearly everywhere. They're not just for fun - they're a means of transportation too. Men in suits and women in high heels ride elegantly to work, their briefcases strapped to the back. After work they may fill the basket on the front with groceries and continue on their way. Share the road
Most Germany cities are bike friendly. This sign indicates that the path is shared with pedestrians.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride
Horizontal pedal bikes like this one on display in a German bike shop allow the rider to lie back while pedaling. They are also considered to be more aerodynamic.
The fastest thing on one wheel
While his fellow five-year-olds are just shedding their training wheels, Max Roesner competes in a unicycle competition in Dresden, Germany.
An electric ride
When you get tired of pedaling just let the battery do the work! These two electric bicycles in Linz, Germany, might be recharging their batteries now but once they get going they will take their riders up to 50 kilometers (31 miles) and they won't even need to pedal. The satchels attached to the back of the bikes allow for easy transport of groceries or perhaps a picnic lunch.
Hail a velotaxi
A velotaxi will take you where you want to go in Frankfurt.
Rain, shine - or snow
It's never too cold to ride your bike in Germany, though you might want to scrape the snow off first!
Leapfrogging
This compact folding bicycle, "the frog," pictured here at an international bike show in Cologne, weighs 10.5 kilograms (23 pounds) and folds down to just 63x48x29 centimeters (24.8x18.9x11.4 inches).
Bike and breakfast
Bike hotels can be found all over Germany. Along with a bed and breakfast they provide bike storage and information on bike routes.
Walking the dog?
Bicycle trailers can be used to carry many things - including pets!
Bite your bum
For just 2,000 euros ($2,600) a python snake-skin saddle adds a bit of luxury to any bike.
Parking space?
You thought parking your car was a challenge? Sometimes finding a spot for your bike isn't much easier.
