Polish prosecutors have said they intend to extradite an Israeli man to Germany. He's suspected of taking part in the killing of a Hamas leader. Israel has requested that the man be sent back home, but Germany issued a European arrest warrant, which accelerates the extradition process among European Union countries.
A spokeswoman from the Polish prosecutor's office said it would ask the Polish courts to order the handover to Germany.
According to the German magazine Der Spiegel, which broke the story, the man was arrested on June 4 at a Warsaw airport on suspicion of using a forged German passport.
The passport was also used in the January assassination of Mahmud al-Mabhuh in Dubai. Al-Mabhuh was a founder of the military wing of Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist organization.
The killers are suspected of being members of the Israeli spy agency Mossad and reportedly used several forged passports in the crime.
