Tens of thousands of young pilgrims have descended on Sydney, Australia, to celebrate World Youth day with Pope Benedict. The pontiff's visit has, in part, been overshadowed by an ongoing controversy over sexual abuse by Catholic priests. Many Australians are expecting Benedict to apologise to victims, as he did during a visit to the United States last April. The Pope could put that debate aside Thursday, as he enjoyed a spectacular welcome in Sydney harbor.
