After dropping the model from its line-up back in 1992, VW decided to reinvent the Scirocco in 2008. The latest version of the modernized classic has been given a facelift plus more power under the hood. Owners can choose from a range of engines, including some formerly available only in the Golf. We tested the most powerful diesel unit: a 2-liter TDI that puts out 135 kW of power. With torque topping out at 380 Newtonmeters, the car named after a hot desert wind can hit 100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 230.
