Press Freedom under threat in Georgia

The constitution of the ex soviet republic of Georgia protects media freedom. Yet over the past few years, journalists have seen many examples government attempts to control media. Earlier this month, newscasters on Georgia’s three main TV channels read out virtually identical reports on a controversial death in custody. Critics see the recent case as evidence that the government dictates news.
