At ‘media mondiale’, a Cologne-based women’s rights and aid organization, Monika Hauser supports women who were traumatized in war and conflict zones. This issue is particularly pressing with ‘IS’ abducting, enslaving and (gang)-raping Yazidi women in Syria and Iraq.
In an interview with DW host Alexandra von Nahmen, Hauser talks about the horrors of witnessing these “dehumanizing war crimes”, how she manages to keep a personal distance to the victims of abuse and the lack of political initiatives.
