Roberto Firmino has agreed to join Liverpool
June 24, 2015Roberto Firmino will be playing Premier League football next season after Liverpool confirmed on Wednesday they had agreed to sign the Brazil international, pending a medical that will take place after his participation at the Copa America.
The details of the deal were not disclosed, although the deal was reported to cost Liverpool around 41 million euros ($44.13 million), which would make him the most expensive Bundesliga transfer ever.
"The Reds have seen off serious competition from rivals in the Barclays Premier League and across Europe to make it Anfield where the goalscoring instincts and creative flair of Firmino can continue to blossom," Liverpool said in a statement.
The talented 23-year-old attacking midfielder is moving to Anfield from Hoffenheim, where he has been a leading player since 2010, scoring 47 goals in 151 appearances.
"Liverpool had been watching all along and acted fastest to put together a deal for Firmino, who will be exhibiting his mesmerizing skills at Anfield from August," read the club statement further.
Having made his international debut last year, Firmino hasn't looked back. He has started Brazil's last two games at this year's Copa America, even scoring the winner against Venezuela.
