Royal tour: Princess Charlotte and Prince George charm Canada
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are visiting Canada on their first official overseas trip as a family of four.
Hello, Canada!
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie greeted the Royal family on the wind-swept tarmac as they left the plane at Victoria International Airport. It's the start of an eight-day official visit. William and Kate last visited Canada in 2011 as newlyweds - even then, they drew crowds everywhere they went.
All eyes on the youngsters
With two children in tow, the crowds are bound to be even more keen on the Royals this time around. Charlotte, 1, is on her first overseas trip. George, 3, is on his second: His first international trip took the little Royal to Australia and New Zealand.
Overwhelmed and shy
George made instant headlines in the UK when he declined to high-five or even shake the hand of Canadian Prime Minister JustinTrudeau during the arrival ceremony on Saturday. "Sorry, one doesn't high-five with commoners," the Daily Mail joked.
Hats galore
Not so George's mommy, the Duchess of Cambridge greets First Nation dancers at the official welcome ceremony at the airport.
Shake hands
Prince William told the crowds he and his wife were delighted to be back in Canada. "When we were here last time, we had been married only three months. The warm welcome that you gave us at that important moment in our lives meant a lot to us." He added the couple were pleased to have their children along, "beginning their own lifetime of friendship with this wonderful country."
Reaching out
While the children stayed behind in Victoria, the British royal couple flew to Vancouver on the second day of the eight-day Canadian visit. They stopped at the Sheway outreach center for women with drug and alcohol addictions who are pregnant or parenting.
Crowds everywhere
The visit is an "opportunity for us to showcase, not just to the family but to the world that watches them, how extraordinary Canada is," Trudeau commented ahead of the visit. Above, Trudeau and the duchess visit the Kitsilano Coast Guard Station in Vancouver.
Interest in refugee issues
The Royal couple also toured the Immigrant Services Society's new Welcome House, where Prime Minister Trudeau told them about the country's efforts to help 31,000 refugees from Syria settle into life in Canada.
Tourist attraction
Wherever she goes, the Duchess of Cambridge is an instant attraction, drawing crowds in this case at the Jack Poole Plaza in Vancouver.
