Europe is gearing up for elections to the European parliament and today the centre-left grouping is kicking off its campaign. It will be naming Germany's Martin Schulz as its lead candidate for the EU Commission presidency. It will be his job to try and drum up interest among voters. Last time, turnout was well under 50%.
