Deadly Brussels shoot-out
May 24, 2014At least three people have been killed and one injured in a shoot-out at the Jewish Museum in the Belgian capital, Brussels, media reports say.
The Belgian radio broadcaster RTBF, quoting the emergency services, said an unidentified gunman had entered the museum, fired shots and then fled by car.
It said the area around the museum in the inner city had been sealed off.
A fire brigade spokesman told French channel BFM TV that the "investigation was moving fast."
Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders said on Twitter he was "shocked" at the killings and "thinking of the victims I saw there and their families."
The RTBF Belgian television station quoted Belgian Interior Minister Joelle Milquet as saying the fact that the shooting took place at the Jewish Museum "could lead to suspicions of an act of anti-Semitism."
