Hertha attack

First-division football club Hertha Berlin first reported the attack on its twitter Sunday evening. The team posted a picture of the damaged windshield of the bus and the words: "Incomprehensible! The team bus came under fire on route to the Cup match. Thankfully no one was injured."

The bus was on its way to Bielefeld's train station to pick up the players, who travelled from Berlin to Bielefeld by rail. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle during the attack.

Hertha Commercial Manager Michael Preetz told the Sky Sports TV broadcaster that an unidentified man on a motorcycle had fired shots at the bus. The club has appealed to the general public to contact Bielefeld police with any information anyone might have about the incident.

Arminia Bielefeld released the following statement via Twitter: "We are shocked by the attack on Hertha's bus. We are very lucky that our colleague from Berlin [i.e. the bus driver] remained unharmed."
