Terror, Brexit and my vote: Five Londoners on the UK election
Despite a narrowing lead, conservative Prime Minister Theresa May is widely expected to win Thursday's poll. DW's Maximiliane Koschyk asks voters in London who they back and what they make of their country's future.
A one-time campaigner
"I voted already. I voted Labour. Whatever happens tomorrow, [my current] MP needs to be there. He is absolutely brilliant. I've been campaigning with Labour, but always made it clear, it is for the MP, not for the party. Corbyn could make it, but whether the Labour party will allow him to stay in power afterwards is another thing altogether." - Kenneth Watkins
An undecided voter
"It's so difficult to say really. I've been away for six months in India and I have just come back. There has already been another terrorist attack on Saturday night, which has saddened me. And now with the election tomorrow, I'm just not sure which way to go." - Lisa Sullivan
A European at heart
"It has been a very stressful time with the Brexit referendum. Everybody I know is terribly sad. We all feel European. This election seems to address only the lowest common denominator. Very few reasoned, evidence-based arguments are put forward by the parties. With the terrorist attacks we've got the reaction from the right wing to deal with. I hope that sanity will prevail." - Annette Holland
A worried grandfather
"Some people say the election wasn't necessary, but Theresa May did not have a mandate. She did the right thing to ask for an election. I won't vote for her party, but the campaign has been informative. People are realizing the enormity of the Brexit. Whatever happens, it will be very important for everybody living in this country. This is my grandson and I am worried about him." - Vahid Nasehi
The core conservative
"Conservative is the best party for the Brexit. [May] has made police cuts, but at the end of the day they are using that as a weapon to gain the electoral vote. She’d be a better leader than Corbyn by a long stretch. I think the attacks were disgusting, but they won’t influence the vote, because we haven't got an alternative." - Tony Togell
