The biggest cookbook in the world
Huge recipe posters have recently made the mouths of the capital city dwellers water. Since Berlin Food Week has been canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, its organizers have drummed up a different idea.
The pleasures of eating
You can almost smell, taste and enjoy it: If only the computer screen weren't in the way. Et voilà: pickled salmon trout in shiso tea. It just makes your stomach growl, doesn't it? It does take work to prepare it, and the names of some ingredients may seem foreign. Still, it's worth a shot. Or you can now book a table again in a restaurant to try out the specialty.
The diet can begin tomorrow
The name sounds so fluffy, so light, so innocent: "yoghurt mango tartlets with jasmine and hazelnut." Let's not think about the amount of cream and sugar in the recipe. Yum!
For good results, you need patience
What looks like an everyday meal is actually elaborate and requires painstaking detail. The ingredients have to be cooked for three hours until this steak and vegetables blend into a miracle for the tongue. The temperature, the correct amounts of herbs and spices are all important. This colorful dish is good for the figure — and even better for the soul.
Creative solutions in trying times
Michael Hetzinger did not want to idly stand by. As the managing director of Berlin Food Week, which has been canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was clear that he and his team had to do something to support the catering and restaurant industry: so they promptly had 250 posters printed that display delicious recipes created by Berlin's top chefs.
Extraordinary times
This is what Berlin Food Week normally looks like in non-corona times. Over 56,000 visitors can sample and savor unusual dishes and the best ingredients that Berlin's gastronomy has to offer. This year, however, the event is taking a compulsory break.
Make it yourself or order take-away?
Cooking enthusiasts can glean ideas from posters with recipes scattered across Berlin. For those who don't like to cook, the names and websites of the restaurants are displayed next to the recipes. These offer deliveries of three-course menus or small snacks. Either way: there is no escape from the delicious food — you'll just have to work out to keep your figure in check.
