The Capital of Pop

Popkomm is the world's largest music and entertainment industry trade fair and, for the first time, it's being held in Berlin.
By day, music business people have been making deals at the fair and, by night, unwinding along with fans to the tunes of around 400 top-class acts performing in 34 clubs during the September 29 to October 1 event.
But with sales plummeting, industry workers aren't necessarily in the mood for dancing. Thus, Popkomm 2004 has turned into a navel-gazing exercise where nearly 50 workshops and panel discussions examine ways out of the crisis -- from the prospects of mobile phones rescuing the music industry to cultural policies and women's roles as consumers.
