The Flower Island of Mainau

Millions of flowers turn the small island in Lake Constance into a magnificent sea of color. It's especially beautiful here on a sunny spring day. A visit to Mainau is a must if you're near Lake Constance.

The flower island of Mainau on Lake Constance is of the leading garden attractions in southern Germany with over a million visitors annually. Grand Duke Frederick I of Baden purchased the island in 1853 and in his private garden by creating the Italian Rose Garden and the arboretum as well as growing rare exotic plants he set in motion what can now be admired in the public parks on the island.
