The players to watch at Women's Euro 2017
The tournament has reached the knockout stages and is packed with talented players. DW takes a look at the competition's big names.
Amandine Henry
The Frenchwoman started her career with Lyon, where she won nine consecutive championships. Henry signed with US club Portland Thorns in the summer of 2016. Despite her impressive club record, she is yet to win a title with her national team.
Anja Mittag und Sara Däbritz
32-year-old Anja Mittag (l) is now playing for Rosengard for the second time in her career. She won Olympic gold 2016, as well as the World Cup and Euro with Germany. Her partner in Germany's attack Sara Däbritz can also take pride in a full trophy cabinet, having won every title possible apart from the World Cup, even though she's only 22.
Lieke Martens
Lieke Martens is set to lead the Netherlands's attack on home soil. Martens top scored at the under-19 Euros and her country has high hopes for her. She is set to join Barcelona after the tournament, according to reports.
Dzsenifer Marozsán
The native Hungarian has become the heartbeat of the German midfield. She's particularly renowned for her frequent defense-splitting passes. The 25-year-old plies her trade for, yep, you guessed it.....Lyon.
Vivianne Miedema
Martens' fellow Dutchwoman Miedema plays for Bayern Munich, where she moved when she was barely 18. She's won two domestic titles with the Bavarians and has joined Arsenal for the upcoming season.
Toni Duggan
The 25-year-old is set to lead England in the tournament, alongside veterans Fara Williams, Alexandra Scott and Karen Carney. Duggan has recently joined Barcelona from Manchester City, making her the only member of the England squad not to play in the English top flight.
Line Röddik Hansen
Barcelona defender Hansen has been a regular in Denmark's starting XI since 2006. The 29-year-old has already won championships in Denmark, Sweden and France, and has a Champions League title with Lyon to boot.
Vicky Losada
Losada was the long-standing captain of Barcelona's women's team until she decided to move to Arsenal. She's also turned out for US club Western New York Splash.
