Strained ties

One year ago South Sudan became Africa's newest independent nation. That event, and the first anniversary, were marked with great rejoicing but at the same time a sense of reality has set in as the country battles major economic problems.  Oil revenue and border disputes continue to dominate relations with Sudan which is also facing a wave of protests directed against austerity measures announced by President Omar al-Bashir.  DW takes an in-depth look at the situation in both countries.
