United Nations loses Chad peacekeepers to bomb in Mali

Olivier Salgado of the UN peacekeeping mission said a car containing Chadian troops hit the roadside bomb Thursday near Aguel'hoc, about 260 kilometers (160 miles) from Kidal in the northern desert. The region has seen earlier mine explosions, including one that killed four UN peacekeepers and wounded several others earlier this month. A landmine also killed one peacekeeper earlier this week.
The peacekeepers have tried to stabilize Mali after a French-led war ousted extremists from power in the country's north in 2013. The government in Bamako is currently negotiating with separatists in the region.
No group claimed immediate responsibility for the attack.
