Vietnam signs 40-plane deal with Airbus

The three companies included budget airlines VietJet and Jetstar Pacific as well as national carrier Vietnam Airlines. Airbus didn't provide a breakdown of each sale's value, but it said VietJet had placed an order for 20 A321 planes.
The list price of such a sale is $2.4 billion, though purchasers usually negotiate discounts.
Vietnam Airlines said it would buy 10 additional A350 planes and Jetstar Pacific said it would purchase 10 A320s. The list price for those deals is $3.1 billion and $980, respectively, according to the Associated Press.
Vietnam Airlines - which owns a 70 percent stake in Jetstar Pacific - already has four A350s in its fleet. In a statement released on Tuesday, Airbus said the carrier was planning to use the 10 additional planes for non-stop flights to the United States.
It wasn't the first time Airbus secured a major deal with a Vietnamese carrier. In 2014, the European plane maker signed a deal for 63 A320s for a list price of $6.4 billion.
