Wolfsburg 1-2 Bayern Munich: As it happened
February 17, 2018FULL TIME!
Wolfsburg 1-2 Bayern Munich
Cologne 1-1 Hannover
Freiburg 1-0 Werder Bremen
Hamburg 1-2 Bayer Leverkusen
---
90+1' Huge chance for HSV in the dying seconds but Bobby Wood shoots wide from seven meters. What a chance.
90+6' GOAL CANCELLED BY VAR - COLOGNE 1-1 HANNOVER
90+4' GOAL! Cologne 2-1 Hannover (Pizarro)
90' GOAL! Wolfsburg 1-2 Bayern Munich (Lewandowski - pen)
89' PENALTY TO BAYERN MUNICH
88' PENALTY MISSED!
Janik Haberer steps up, aims for the top corner, but it goes wide! Still 1-0 in Freiburg!
87' PENALTY TO FREIBURG
Milos Veljkovic fouls in the box and Freiburg have their second penalty of the afternoon.
83' David Alaba wins a corner for Bayern right in front of the away end ... but it's easily cleared, as it Sebastian Rudy's follow-up. It's all Bayern, but Martin Schmidt has brought on Victor Osinem to pose a threat on the break.
83' The Hamburg defense is all over the place as Leverkusen work the ball around the edge of the box, but when it eventually comes to Leon Bailey, the Jamaican scoops his shot well over. We've seen Bailey cut in onto his left and shoot so many times this season but it didn't come off this time!
77' Cologne are pressing for a winner but the final ball is sorely lacking. French youngster Vincent Koziello has replaced Milos Jojic but the quality just isn't there for the Billy Goats. They've only had four shots, and that's not enough for the Bundesliga.
72' First half-chance for Werder Bremen as Thomas Delaney sends a half-volley over the bar.
70' GOAL! Hamburg 1-2 Leverkusen (Hahn)
André Hahn out-muscles Henrichs (fairly) and finishes off to halve the deficit. It's a goal out of the blue for HSV ... can they get back into it?
64' GOAL! Wolfsburg 1-1 Bayern Munich (Wagner)
A textbook goal. Thomas Müller feeds Arjen Robben down the right wing. The Dutchman reaches the by-line and cuts back to Sandro Wagner who climbs to head home the equalizer from close range. Wagner's second goal for his new club and it's all-square in the Autostadt!
64' Cologne's striking savior Simon Terodde has been stretchered off after receiving a kick in the face from Sané. The referee decides it wasn't intentional and the Hannover defender escapes any further punishment. But that's worrying for Cologne ...
61' The snow is falling thick now in freezing Freiburg, where the hosts still lead Werder Bremen 1-0. The visitors are dominating possession but have created precious little up front.
55' PENALTY SAVED!
Koen Casteels tips Robben's penalty onto the post and out of play! The Dutchman's shot lacked power and was a relatively easy height for the goalkeeper. But take nothing away from Casteels. A penalty save is a penalty save and Wolfsburg still lead!
54' PENALTY TO BAYERN MUNICH
Renato Steffen illegally puts his body between Corentin Tolisso and the ball and, despite his protests, the referee points to the spot.
54' Really impressive support from the Werder Bremen fans, who have travelled in numbers! Their team can't find a way through the Freiburg defense yet though.
50' GOAL! Hamburg 0-2 Leverkusen (Havertz)
Leon Bailey plays in the overlapping Benjamin Henrichs who cuts back to Kai Havertz who, unmarked in the box, strokes the ball home to double Leverkusen's lead. Hamburg have shown very little here.
47' Daniel Didavi curls a free-kick just over the bar for Wolfsburg, who still lead Bayern Munich 1-0.
SECOND HALF
We're back underway in the Bundesliga
--- HALF-TIME! ---
Wolfsburg 1-0 Bayern Munich
Cologne 1-1 Hannover
Hamburg 0-1 Bayer Leverkusen
Freiburg 1-0 Werder Bremen
45' Marcel Risse sends a good ball across the Hannover six-yard-box but it's too far in front of Jojic. Cologne with only three shots here, compared to Hannover's 11 ...
40' GOAL! Hamburg 0-1 Leverkusen (Bailey)
Douglas Santos hesitates on the ball in his own penalty area and is immediately punished as Leon Bailey nips in to win the ball and give Leverkusen a deserved lead.
37' In Wolfsburg, Franck Ribery is perhaps lucky to still be on the pitch. After seemingly having elbowed Renato Steffen in the face, the VAR analyzes the scene and decides the Frenchman should only get a caution. Lucky boy, cher Franck!
37' GOAL! Cologne 1-1 Hannover (Füllkrug)
Hannover have responded well since going behind and this is a well-worked and well-deserved equalizer. Fossum stabs the ball through into the path of Niclas Füllkrug who finishes for his tenth goal of the season.
35' Werder Bremen are pushing for an equalizer in snowy Freiburg but without much luck. Christian Streich's side are hard to beat at home and very well organized defensively.
33' Post! Another chance for Leverkusen in Hamburg! Kai Havertz crosses for Charles Aranguiz but the Chilean's glancing header brushes the post on its way out of play. So close for Leverkusen, who have had the better of the first half.
31' Chance for Hannover! The visitors go straight up the other end with Bebou, but his cross somehow evades Iver Fossum who had the goal at his mercy in the middle. Still 1-0 to Cologne, but it really should be 1-1.
30' GOAL! Cologne 1-0 Hannover (Osako)
Jonas Hector's free-kick falls to Yuya Osako at the back post. The Japanese forward beats Korb and Klaus before smashing an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net.
27' Bayern Munich have a free-kick just outside the area - but Robben's effort strikes the wall and goes out for a corner.
24' GOAL! Freiburg 1-0 Werder Bremen (Petersen - pen)
Johansson bundles Terrazzino to ground with a clumsy challenge and it's a clear penalty. Captain Nils Petersen steps up and places his penalty past Pavlenka to put his team 1-0 up in the Breisgau snow!
23' PENALTY FOR FREIBURG!
23' Double chance for Bayer Leverkusen. First, Kohr shoots against his own player, Julian Brandt, whose inadvertent intervention becomes a lay-off for Kevin Volland, but Mathenia saves.
Oof, strong words from the Wolfsburg social media team! But why not?
19' A first chance for Bayern as they try to get back into the game in Wolfsburg, but Niklas Süle can't quite connect with Arjen Robben's dangerous free-kick. Wolfsburg have sat back since the goal, they look solid, and are forcing Bayern into long balls. But with Sandro Wagner up front, could they be playing into the champions' hands? Still 1-0 ...
17' The first shot on goal in Cologne - and it's from Hannover's Ihlas Bebou. But Timo Horn is equal to it with a strong fist.
15' Hamburg's most dangerous attack so far has come, predictably, courtesy of Filip Kostic, but when he laid off to Arp, the teenager missed the ball and kicked the ground ... strange, and lucky he didn't injure himself, to be honest.
8' GOAL! Wolfsburg 1-0 Bayern Munich (Didavi)
Arnold takes a short corner to Malli who crosses to the back post, where Daniel Didavi rises above Juan Bernat to head Wolfsburg into an early lead! Good cross, good header - but Bayern were asleep!
2' An early chance for Freiburg at home to Werder Bremen as Terrazzino fires in a cross from the right but Pavlenka in the Bremen goal parries clear. Here's the full Freiburg line-up:
Jan-Fiete Arp leads the line for Hamburg today, who are still on the hunt for a first win under coach Bernd Hollerbach. They played well in Dortmund last week but still came away empty-handed, but the fans are keeping the faith with an impressive display ahead of the visit of Leverkusen reading: "Forward, HSV!"
KICK-OFF! We're underway in the four Saturday fixtures!
The fans aren't happy in Cologne either. They've accepted that the club will most likely be relegated but are unhappy at an open letter addressed to the fans by the club, in which the club publically questioned the fans' loyalty. Never a good idea!
Here's how they line-up vs Hannover:
All is not well in Wolfsburg, with only three wins in 18 games under Martin Schmidt - plus an incredible 11 draws and four defeats. As a result, many Wolfsburg fans are protesting against the club's management by remaining outside the stadium until minute 19:45 - a reference to the year in which the club was founded.
Wolfsburg line-up:
Bayern Munich team news: Sandro Wagner makes his first league start for Bayern. Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez also return to the starting line-up. And coach Jupp Heynckes is back on the bench after missing last week's win over Schalke with flu.
