Women in power: Better politicians?
Soraya Sarhaddi Nelson is an American journalist who directs the US National Public Radio bureau in Berlin. And she says: "Women are politically more powerful than ever before but still face greater obstacles."
Susanne Koelbl, a foreign correspondent for Spiegel Magazine, argues that: "Women are gaining in influence globally, as entrepreneurs, politicians, activists. But when people are seeking refuge in war zones, they are always among the first victims."
Karen Taylor who is among other things an adviser on human rights to Germany's Social Democratic Party in the German parliament, the Bundestag. She says: "One hundred years after the introduction of women's suffrage in Germany, the proportion of women in politics is still below 50 percent. We need the quota so that we do not have to wait another 100 years for parity."
