The Kimberly process was put in place in 2002 to curb trade in conflict diamonds. While the process of certifying diamonds has helped to raise awareness for the issue, diamond revenues continue to contribute to human rights violations. Alice Harle from the London based NGO Global Witness says more measures are needed, including a new EU regulation for companies importing minerals.
