Ecuador is the world’s largest banana exporter. But producing cheap bananas comes at an extremely high price for Ecuadorian banana workers. An investigation by Danish media center DanWatch has revealed that extremely hazardous pesticides are commonly used on Ecuador’s banana plantations. While the country’s agriculture industry is booming, local communities are paying the price.
