- Hertha's new-signing Mathew Leckie scored two on debut, a week after becoming a father

- VAR on Saturday in the Bundesliga was a disaster after technical issues. BVB had video for their game, but no calibrated lines to help offside decisions. Hoffenheim and Hertha only had video in the second half, and Hamburg never had any.

- After losing to HSV, Augsburg still haven't won on the opening day in the Bundesliga.

- Four new head coaches made their Bundesliga debuts (Peter Bosz, Sandro Schwarz, Hannes Wolf and Domenico Tedesco).

- In the second division, Union Berlin forgot their goalkeeping kit which meant their keeper had to play in a black t-shirt. Wouldn't want to be that kit man...

- Twelve-year-old Youssoufa Moukoko has now scored eight goals in three games for BVB's U17s. Moukoko first made the headlines on the opening day when, despite being three or four years younger than most, he scored two goals.

- Hannover goalkeeper Philipp Tschauner made his second Bundesliga appeareance 12 years after his first - the second longest wait in Bundesliga history.

Transfer news:

- Stuttgart and BVB have apparently agreed a deal for World Cup winner Erik Durm, but it's dragging due to more medical tests say "kicker".

- Hannover are on the verge of announcing Jonathas, the 28-year-old striker from Rubin Kazan, for a club record fee (reportedly eight million euros).

- Schalke's Atsuto Uchida is expected to leave after being given permission to look for a new club. The Japanese star has been at the Royal Blues since 2010 and is a fan favorite but hasn't really played since 2015 due to knee issues.

Bizarre Bundesliga:

Nicolai Müller, one of Hamburg's most important players, scored seven minutes into the new season but tore his cruicate ligament in his right knee while celebrating and is out for seven months. HSV head coach Markus Gisdol said he had never experienced anything like that before, but in many respects it falls fittingly into Hamburg's troubles.
